You've probably heard about the microagulhamento technique that, with the help of very fine needles, stimulates collagen of the skin and reduces signs of aging. Currently, it is carried out, even with the help of a device called Roller, which has about 200 needles, facilitating the application.
The microagulhamento or percutaneous collagen induction (IPCA) has long attracted the attention of people who bet on clinical or aesthetic treatments to care for the beauty of the skin because it can treat various aspects of the skin, especially facial.
Juliana Jordão, Postgraduate Medical Dermatology, said the treatment is performed using devices composed of small needles that cause micro-perforations in the skin. "These microperforations are responsible for the induction of an inflammatory process at the site capable of stimulating the fibroblast cells are responsible for collagen production site," he says.
"In addition, through the small holes caused, it is possible to reduce the pigmentation spots, especially melasma. Recent studies show considerable improvement in melasma spots resistant to other treatments, "adds the dermatologist.
Juliana Vieira, dermatofuncional physiotherapist at The Spa, points out that the microagulhamento aims percutaneous induction of collagen, angiogenesis (creation of new blood vessels) and increased vasodilation, so that there is an improvement of oxygenation and nutrition in the tissues .
Juliana Jordão explains that the indications of treatment are different, but the main ones are:
- Reduction of melasma;
- Reduction of acne scars;
- wrinkles reduction;
- Reduction / improvement splines;
- Improves pores and skin texture;
- Reduction of traumatic and / or surgical scars.
Juliana Vieira reinforces that microagulhamento may be indicated for facial rejuvenation, treatment of stretch marks, blemishes, and alopecia and sagging.
It is noteworthy that the microagulhamento can be used on the face, as in other parts of the body, including the scalp, to stimulate blood circulation in the area.

Juliana Vieira explains that it is first made one cleaning and sterilization of the skin. "Then, the needle chosen to be used in accordance with the proposed treatment. The roller is passed on the skin in four directions (vertically, horizontally, diagonally left and right) five times each. During microagulhamento, use an appropriate cosmetic for the skin type and treatment, "he says.
Juliana Jordão dermatologist points out that, in the case of treatment for the face, after antisepsis of the skin and application of anesthetic cream, the application of the IPCA is done in several passes across the face. "According to the need, needles of different sizes are used: for superficial lesions, smaller needles; for deep injuries like scars, longer needles, "he explains.
"After the procedure, there is mild to moderate swelling and redness of the skin which varies with the intensity of the application. Recovery is usually faster compared to laser ", adds the dermatologist.
Juliana Jordão illustrates that there are three types of melasma: epidermal (more shallow), dermal (deeper) and mixed (in two layers). "For each, they should be used medications and specific concentrations. If treatment is not correct, it can cause irritation and worsen the injury, "he warns.
It is worth to emphasize that, for it is an invasive procedure, the microagulhamento or IPCA should be performed by a qualified professional to do so in order to ensure proper evaluation of indications and contraindications, as well as prevention and complications.
Thus microagulhamento should preferably be done by dermatologists, or plastic surgeons skilled in the art. Physiotherapists dermatofuncionais with skill in the art can also do it.

Pain is always relative. But, in general, Juliana Vieira says that in the case of needles with a length of 0.2 to 0.3, the pain is well tolerable. "To needles above 0.5, patients report pain," he says.
Juliana Jordão points out that, if the application of anesthetic ointment high power or injected local anesthesia, the microagulhamento becomes a very tolerated procedure, even when done in a more intense way. "Is important to emphasize that only doctors are allowed to apply anesthetic ointment high power or injected local anesthesia," he says.
Results: what to expect from microagulhamento
Juliana Jordão dermatologist explains that are indicated generally one to three sessions, depending on the severity of the above and the indication.
"The post of IPCA is generally quiet with minimal discomfort. The reduction in blemishes and improves skin quality are seen in the first 15 to 30 days. The heyday of the IPCA-induced collagen production is around three months, when we see the improvement of wrinkles, scars and stretch marks, "explains dermatologist.
The physiotherapist Juliana Vieira explains that, generally, it can be observed that after the microagulhamento for up to eight months there is the production of collagen.
In regard to prices, there may be wide variation depending on the location (city, clinic) where the treatment will take place. The dermatofuncional physiotherapist emphasizes, however, that the amount usually varies between R $ 400 to R $ 600 per session.
Generally, the time interval between one session and another is one month. Each session lasts about 30 minutes to 1 hour. But all this can vary according to the type of treatment.

- active infection like herpes on site or other infection;
- Trend healing with keloids;
The physiotherapist dermatofuncional Juliana notes that pregnant women can not perform the procedure because the risk of hyperpigmentation is very large due to hormonal changes.
Also according to the physiotherapist, the technique is safe, therefore, to pierce the skin, it remains the full epidermis, and with it, the risk of any complications are low.
Juliana Jordão dermatologist explains that the side effects can arise if any application or incorrect statement. "It can lead to scarring and blemishes at the treatment site. Care after the procedure for the patient, such as through the filter use and prevent sun exposure, also help in the prevention of post-procedure spots, "he says.
A dermatologist points out that, together with the microagulhamento must be used between sessions anti-wrinkle creams and bleaching for improvement and maintenance of the results. "For patients with stains, the sessions can be alternated with chemical peels. For deep wrinkles and scars, in the same session can be applied to dermal tunneling technique of making a detachment of the lesion and increased collagen production site, "he says.
To ensure greater success in treatment and general care of the beauty of the skin, microagulhamento should still be associated with a diet rich in proteins (which help to stimulate the formation of collagen in the skin), with daily sun protection (using protective of above 30 FPS) and the adequate consumption of liquids (especially water). Smokers should do its utmost to stop, because this is a totally destructive habit for beauty and health in general.
