Well where do we begin?

A lot of men pays very little (if not at all) attention to their socks. They may appear to be the last thing that you have to worry about but wearing a pair of bad socks can ruin the total look. Imagine a very well-dressed man in a Brooks Brothers suit. Everything was perfect until he crosses his leg and you can see white socks with Nike logo peeking through the hem of his trousers.

White socks were popular in the eighties. People wore them with pretty much everything from bermudas to tailored pants. We know how eighties was quite a scary decade for fashion. So just like leg-warmers, mullets and acid-wash jeans, people realized that they were not really that great and decided to move on.

Fast forward to 2012, white socks are making a comeback. The more fashion forward youngsters and hipster alike have started to embrace the return of white socks. These people have been seen wearing them with their creepers and Dr.Martens. Tons of street-style and outfit photos are sprawling up the blogs and websites. All of them are featuring one of the most hatred items in menswear history- white socks.

Even askmen.com is against the idea. This is not a personal attack against white socks but they are better off as a part of sportswear. And here are more reasons why they should stay in your gym bag and worn with sneakers.

They get dirty easily.

Unlike colored socks, stains on white socks are more obvious. In a country where shoes are left outside the door before entering the house, would you let other people see your dirty socks? Black or colored socks are definitely your best-friend in this kind of situation.

White socks do not match with anything.

Unless you are wearing a white suit or a pair of white pants that is. We all know that the socks should follow the color of our pants. So how many times a week do you actually wear white pants?

Would you wear football jersey to work? It is pretty much the same situation if you are wearing white socks to work. Black socks always work even with other colored pants. It’s always best to match your socks to your pants, the same way that you match you leather belt and shoes.

But still it is really up to you guys. Our advice is stick to colored socks, unless you are a “white socks” spokesperson or a Michael Jackson impersonator.
