Just only 10 days after the announcement of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis split, another Hollywood power-couple has decided to throw in the towel and go on their separate ways. Katie Holmes of the ‘TomKat’ fame has filed for divorce from his husband of five years, Tom Cruise. According to AFP, Tom is deeply saddened and is concentrating on his three children while Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.

It will be mean to say that we saw it coming, but Tom’s track record is not really that convincing. This is the third divorce for Tom Cruise after his marriages to actress Mimi Rogers in the late eighties and Nicole Kidman throughout the nineties.

One source cited Scientology as being the reason behind Katie’s decision to leave her 50-year-old husband. Now that their daughter Suri is 6 years old, she is concerned about Tom ‘dragging Suri too deep into the church of Scientology’ and is looking into sole custody of their daughter.

But one question remains. If it really is because of the controversial religion, why didn’t it even cross her mind before she said ‘I Do’ back in 2006?
