YOUTUBE TO YOU “LIVE” – SING OFF unveiled the grand winners at the finals held at Laundry Bar after an intensive two months of online voting and live performances. Grand Prize winner duo Epy & Ardiv were awarded RM5000 cash, RM1000 Laundry vouchers, one AXL Badwater SRO guitar and a chance to perform a “Live Concert” at Laundry in July, plus extensive media coverage to start their journey to fame. The 1st runner up, Brendan James de Cruz got RM3000 cash, RM500 Laundry vouchers and the 2nd runner up, Fabian Mark Peter walked away with RM1000 cash and RM250 Laundry vouchers.

For those who missed our previous feature on YOUTUBE TO YOU “LIVE” SING OFF, the competition was launched two months ago by Laundry Bar, a staunch supporter of the local music scene in Kuala Lumpur. The aim of the YOUTUBE TO YOULIVE SING OFF program is to raise the profile of the Malaysian music scene via a new and fresh platform for aspiring singer-songwriters in Malaysia. This was done by creating an easy and accessible opportunity for them to showcase their talents through the YouTube and Facebook audition program.

The submission of videos was opened to public on the 23 April and the program received overwhelming response with hundreds of videos submitted by aspiring singers. After the deadline on the 15 May, the best Top 50 videos were selected by the organizers of the program and put up for online voting on Facebook. Voting was closed on 23 May revealing the Top 10 finest and talented amateur performances with the most votes. The Top 10 included solo, duo or band performing songs of their choice. Participants ranged from tertiary education students to working adults who have an innate passion for music.

These lucky 10 then advanced to the Top 10 Live Showcase where they were invited to perform two songs each live at Laundry Bar. Their live performances were judged by artistes from the local indie music scene like Liyana Fizi, An Honest Mistake, Reza Salleh, Pesawat and The Azenders. The Top 6 best performances were chosen based on song choice, performance and stage presence. The six semi finalists then proceeded to the next level as Top 3 finalists to compete in the grand finale held here last night.

Laundry Bar has also tied up with REDFM radio station, for a new segment called RED UNSIGNED with Laundry YouTube to You Live, happening once a week where selected youtubers will be showcased on radio. The segment will be hosted by Fiqrie as part of his The Edge on Red program. It is poised to be the first Malaysian partnership that creates a path for fresh talent in the music industry. They will also have the opportunity to perform live every last Thursday of the month at Laundry Bar.
