Although dandy-daddy is the preferred choice of fashion trend among the GQ and Esquire-reading crowd of gentlemen, we can’t simply overlook the edgier bunch who draw inspirations from the the unknown and the darker side of the colorful world that we live in. Rick Owens, Mugler, Walter Van Bierendonck, Riccardo Tisci and Damir Doma are among the designers who fully embraced the eccentric and darker side of fashion where almost everything is in darker hues, creatures like snakes and rottweiler emblazoned the t-shirts and the idea of dressing like an otherworldly creature screams louder statement than anything else. Here are the latest looks from the above mentioned designers. Just in case you would like to take a wild ride into the darker side.

Rick Owens

Rick Owens is no stranger to all things black and mysterious with looks so sought after that the shoes from each of his collection fly off the rack as soon as they hit the market. For Fall 2013, Rick Owens stick to the same silhouette of drape-y black fabrics with skinny pants and futuristic boots. Big hair is recommended.

Mugler

We know what Nicola Formichetti is the stylist for most of Lady Gaga’s music videos. Looking at Mugler collection, you can even see a little bit of Gaga in some of the looks. Not that we are complaining but this season, the collection looks like it was inspired by Ken (of Barbie & Ken) who has gone up to space.

Damir Doma

The use of nylon this season give the collection a very distinctive futuristic look. When combined with leather, you got yourself look after look that is similar to what you can see in sci-fi movies. Think Neo of The Matrix.

Givenchy

Leather shorts with knee socks is not exactly a perfect combination but when seen on the runway of Givenchy, it just suddenly makes sense. The puffer jacket  is knotted around the waist and becomes part of the look.

Walter Van Bierendonck

One of the quirkiest designers ever to emerge in the fashion scene, Walter Van Bierendonck experiment with colorful almost childhood elements to create his prints this season. Not exactly the typical turtle-neck that you have worn in the past, but this one right here is the version that is more fun and showcases more attitude.

Now are you up for the challenge? Let’s start this journey into the dark side.
