Collaboration is a major trend in fashion at the moment. Perhaps we shouldn’t call it that as it is something that is here to stay unlike trends which always come and go.
Whenever a label or designer collaborate with another label, designer or even celebrity; the outcome almost instantly turn into a major success. Think of H&M and their sold out collabo with designers like Margiela, Versace, Lanvin and most recently Isabel Marant. Being a fan of these designers, it would be crazy to let go of the opportunity to buy pieces that bear their names with less than quarter of the usual price.
So this year, we are really looking forward to more collaboration to come. Well maybe not all of them are as affordable but you know there is difference between Nike and Nike x Riccardo Tisci.
Here are five important collaboration that we have to know about this year:
1. Michael Bastian x Uniqlo polo shirts
The summer polo shirts designed by Bastian come in multiple varieties from stripes to washed, clean to contrast and available in summery shades of green, red and yellow among others. Available now on line and selected Uniqlo stores.
2. adidas Original x Pharrell
Not exactly the custom Swarovski sneaker he wore on the red carpet, but the hitmaker has just revealed a video images featuring these heavily graffitied adidas Classic sneakers. Available later this summer.
3. Supreme x Comme de Garcon
This reminded us of the Stussy x Bathing Ape collaboration. Both very know for their streetwear sensibility expect to see hoodies, baseball jackets and printed hats that you would want to be seen in throughout the next season.
4. Nike x Riccardo Tisci
It is finally here! Nike x RC collection features updated version of Nike Air Force with Tisci’s signature techno-tribal essence on the detailing. Available now from US$240, Tisci’s aim is to reach out to those who are not able to afford his RTW collection.
5. Comme des Garcons Parfums x Pharrell
Pharrell is currently developing a signature fragrance with Rei Kawakubo of CDG. Available in the market soon, Comme des Garçons CEO Adrian Joffe even confirmed that Pharrell, “knew exactly what he wanted the perfume to smell like right from the beginning.”
6. Esquire MY x Salvatore Ferragamo
And last but not least, the Esquire Malaysia’s third anniversary special. Not only that this Opus Box is a winning collaboration, it is also a really good steal! Available now exclusively at Kinokuniya for only RM111, the box contains two copies of April’s Twin Peaks Issue, Salvatore Ferragamo Acqua Essenziale 50ml EDT and The Esquire Traveler notebook. Also included is a RM50 voucher for Ferragamo fragrance just in case you need to get a second bottle.
Now which of these collaboration are you most excited about. Leave a comment and let us know.
