MTV Video Music Awards 2014 took place on Sunday celebrating all the glitz and glamor of today’s pop culture— in the usual MTV’s signature explosion of sexuality and wildness of course.
Remember when Miley Cyrus ‘happened’ on stage of VMA last year? There is none of that this time around although Nicki Minaj jungle-twerking to her new song ‘Anaconda’ came pretty close.
The night was all about Beyonce with her flawless 16-minutes performance before accepting the Vanguard Award and closing the show. There were quite a number of memorable performances from other pop acts like Taylor Swift who refused to jump off onto the stage, Nicki Minaj (she took the stage three times) who had a wardrobe malfunction and performed with her hand on her chest and we just can’t get enough of Usher killing it with his sleek dance moves.
Fashion-wise, VMA never disappoints. Katy Perry showed up in a matchy-matchy denim ensemble inspired by Justin and Britney in the late 2000s with Riff Raff . Britney Spear immediately approved with a status update on her Facebook page. Amber Rose wore a naked web dress and Taylor Swift wore less clothes than Miley Cyrus!
All the wackiness aside, we were pretty excited about all the menswear we saw on the red-carpet. From Jason Derulo’s all white get-up to Sam Smith’s three-piece suit, let’s have a look at all of the good, the bad and the ugly of menswear fashion seen on the red-carpet of The MTV VMA 2014.
Sam Smith rocked the English gentleman look in this three-piece suit
It’s good to see young star like Austin Mahone donning something like this which is more fun and age-appropriate
Aussie new export- 5 Seconds of Summer looks like One Direction after a major rockstar makeover
Common has got to be the better dressed man in this photo with his leather sleeve sweater. Usher doesn’t look too shabby either but the black and white combination is a little bit too been-there-done-that for VMA
Another similar style on the red-carpet. White everything, long shirt and high-tops. This time on Jason Derulo
And here’s another leather sleeve but this time on a bomber jacket. Dylan O’brien could have done a better job with those jeans
Jack Antonoff of fun. is bringing the hipster vibe to the red-carpet of VMA 2014.
JLo’s ex-boyfriend, Casper Smart totally rocked his vintage-blue suit. He just needs to learn how to pose better for the red-carpet.
This is so-Jeremy Scott! Only he can put an entire collection inspired by fast-food on the runway and turn it into the season’s biggest hit! Yes, we are referring to Moschino!
Please stick to your regular suit Taye Diggs. Are those Will-i-am’s pants?!
We are not too crazy with this whole new futuristic vibe that the stars are trying to make statement with. Let’s just wait and see if there will be something new on the red-carpet of VMA next year.
